What is the mind? What is its function and nature? How do I and and other objects I perceive actually exist? These are profound questions.

Buddha taught that nothing exists separate from our mind. All objects, whether pleasant or unpleasant or neutral, are mere appearances to the mind, just like things experienced in a dream.

During this day retreat day retreat Gen Chitta will guide us on meditations on the nature of our mind the profound object emptiness, or ultimate truth.

Gaining even a little experience of the nature of our mind, and emptiness can deeply change and improve our understanding and experience of our self, others and our world. Out of confusion we mistakenly perceive the way things exist, and live within this dream like hallucination as if it were the truth. We view our limitations as real and we might feel stuck. But our limitations and the world we normally perceive are not as real and solid as they seem to be.

The actual nature of things is emptiness, which means things do not exist inherently, independent and outside the mind, but are mere appearances arising from our mind. Understanding this will liberate us from our perceived limitations and insecurities and generate in us the conviction that we can definitely change into the person we would like to be.
