In situations of conflict, we tend to become angry easily. We even think anger will help us ‘win our battles’, and we rely on it as if it were our trusted friend. The mind of anger, however, leaves a trail of broken relationships, lost opportunities, and painful feelings in its wake. There’s a reason for this. According to Buddha anger is a deluded, unpeaceful mind that distorts our perception, causing us to exaggerate problems so that they feel unmanageable. Consequently, so much of our life feels overwhelming, which makes us even more angry and unhappy, both with ourselves and others.

During this day retreat, Gen Chitta will explain Buddha’s illuminating and practical teachings on how to let go of anger. Putting these explanations into practice will enable us to transform the energy of anger into a creative response that opens us up to resolutions and new possibilities.

Gen Kelsang Chitta, having studied Buddhism since 2002 and ordained as a Buddhist nun in 2009, shares the meditation techniques and practices she herself has found so transformative, in a down to earth, humorous and accessible way.

With over a decade of teaching experience and the benefit of continuous study and teacher training you are in safe hands to help you begin, reinvigorate or continue your meditation journey.

A dedicated student of Buddhist master Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, Gen Chitta holds the blessed lineage of Atisha and Je Tsongkhapa and can bring the inspiration and practices of this lineage into our busy, modern and often challenging lives and minds.

Everyone is welcome, beginners and experienced meditators alike. No special clothes are required and seating is provided in chairs and meditation cushions. There is free on street parking on the street just outside, easy access from the Westlink Divis St/ Millfield exit, and we are just 15 min walk from City Hall and the Europa Bus Centre.

Bring a vegetarian or vegan packed lunch or a dish to share in the lunch break, or pop out to frequent one of the many cafes in the Cathedral Quarter, just 7 mins walk away. Complimentary hot drinks and light snacks will be available throughout the day in the lounge area.
