Meditation half-day retreat –
A life beyond craving, distraction & addiction

Talks & guided meditations
Apr, Sat 18th | 14:00 – 17:00 | with Gen Chitta |

Whether it’s simply addiction to a smartphone or some other unhelpful habit we feel is undermining our peace of mind, happiness and well being, discover the power of meditation and improving our mindfulness, to enable us all to become free of it, and live a life beyond craving, distraction and addiction.

In this meditation half-day retreat, we will explore where our craving, distraction and addiction tendencies come from. We will learn meditations and practical insights – that Buddha taught – to enable us all to experience the freedom and joy that comes from learning how to recognise, reduce and finally abandon these painful habits of mind. We will also, learn specific practices to connect to, cultivate and maintain our own inner source of peace and happiness. In this way we can learn how to free ourselves from craving, addiction and seeking endless distractions outside ourselves. Instead, we will find a new found confidence, contentment and happiness that we can bring to all areas of our life.

Guided by Buddhist Nun and Potala Kadampa Buddhist Centre’s Principal Teacher Gen Kelsang Chitta. Gen Chitta, a student of Tibetan Buddhist master Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche for 17 years, has been guiding retreats in NI for the last 10 years and can offer gentle guidance and the clear wisdom of ancient Buddhist practice in a way that’s suitable for everyone of any age, background or belief.

Suitable for beginners and those with more experience, the afternoon includes talks and guided meditations, and a 30 min break. No need to bring anything, except a notebook and pen if you wish to take some notes.

Letting Go of Anxiety

Talks & guided meditations
June, Sat 13th | 14:00 – 17:00 | with Gen Chitta | at Potala Kadampa Buddhist Centre, Cityside Branch, Yorkgate, Belfast

Our busy lives, constant juggling of responsibilities, and the general state of our world today, can leave us all feeling a little (or a lot) anxious and powerless at times. In this half-day retreat with Gen Chitta, discover how meditation and improving our mindfulness, gives us the power to recognise, reduce and let go of worry and anxiety.

We will explore how worry and anxiety has its roots in how we relate to ourselves, others and the world around us. By cultivating new, healthier and wiser ways of relating to ourselves, others and life, we become confident we can be free of worry and anxiety.

We will explore how we can fearlessly face the inevitable difficulties we meet in life, with genuine peace of mind and inner strength, free of the anxiety and stress they normally produce. In this way, we learn how to move beyond anxiety, and develop and maintain genuine happiness and emotional well being, no matter what is happening in our lives.
