Living from the Heart
a life of courage, clarity and connection
Weekend Meditation Retreat on the Atlantic Coastline
6pm Friday 9th April – 2pm Sunday 11th April 2021
Guided jointly by Gen Kelsang Chitta and Ian McGlade
In life we often live in our heads. Caught up and bombarded by continuous thoughts, feelings and sensations. Sometimes it feels manageable but often it feels constant, out of control and overwhelming. We are at the mercy of an out of controlled mind, jumping from thought to thought. Our mind feels like a disconnected kite, caught up in a storm, trapped in emotion. We experience pain, fear and anxiety, powerless to change.
In this retreat we will drop from our head to our heart and discover a spaciousness and peaceful resonance that is the true nature of our mind.
In reality the mind is limitless without boundary and we will identify and absorb into a peaceful open state of clarity that is pervaded by every virtuous quality imaginable.
We will connect to a deeper experience and from there realise the true potential of our mind. From this place we will have the choice to begin to think, speak, act and live from our heart.
Corrymeela offers the perfect conditions to settle the mind, and to explore and develop getting back to the positive mind states that create long lasting change and happiness. Situated on the Atlantic Coast you will experience outstanding beauty with ocean views and ocean air, offering ideal conditions to develop an ocean of peace within the mind.
Guiding the sessions will be Buddhist nun Gen Chitta, a student of Tibetan Buddhist master Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche for 17 years, has been guiding retreats in NI for the last 10 years and can offer gentle guidance and the clear wisdom of ancient Buddhist practice in a way that’s suitable for everyone of any age, background or belief. Also guiding some sessions will be Ian McGlade. Having attended at Potala for many years, as well as many residential retreats internationally and an extensive teacher training programme Ian will bring the inspirations of his experiences through to everyone attending.
There’ll be plenty of time between sessions to read, walk and relax, and the silence in the mornings will allow us the opportunity to reduce distractions and engage more fully with meditation and contemplation.
Accommodation is modern and comfortable, and meals vegan or vegetarian. It is possible to attend just the sessions if you don’t wish to avail of the accommodation. Chairs will be provided as well a mats and cushions and no special clothing or experience is required.
